Merseyside's Police and Crime Commissioner Emily Spurrell has issued a statement following an incident on Water Street in Liverpool city centre after LFC's title parade.
Emily Spurrell said: "The footage which emerged following Liverpool's title parade is shocking and appalling.
"My thoughts are with all those affected, especially those who have been injured and their families.
"A 53-year-old white British male from the Liverpool area has now been arrested.
"My thanks go to all at Merseyside Police and our emergency service partners who responded so swiftly.
"Updates will be provided as soon as possible. In the meantime, I'd urge people to please not speculate any further.
"I'd ask anyone with information to please share it with Merseyside Police."
