March to End HBA and Harmful Practices

- Williamson Square
End FGM banners

Merseyside's Police Commissioner will be joining the march to end 'Honour' Based Abuse campaign led by her Victim Care Merseyside partner Savera UK.

March with Savera UK through Liverpool city centre in protest against ‘honour’-based abuse (HBA) and harmful practices. Stand in solidarity with survivors of HBA, female genital mutilation (FGM), forced marriage and child marriage and remember those who have been lost.

This is the third year Savera UK - alongside partners Zonta UK - have marched through Liverpool to raise awareness of the issues of ‘honour’-based abuse and harmful practices like FGM, forced marriage, virginity testing and conversion ‘therapy’.

Speakers will include Merseyside PCC, Emily Spurrell, Kim Johnson MP, Afrah Qassim, Savera UK Founder and CEO and Dianne Jeans from Zonta UK. We will also be joined by Katumba Drumming and Movement, Wavertree Community Gospel Choir and members of Savera UK Youth who will be delivering some uplifting performances for us as well.

We would love it if you were able to join us to help highlight these ‘hidden’ practices, which are human rights violations, and help us to break the silence around them.

Where: Meet at Williamson Square.
