Confirmation hearing for new Chief Constable

- Municipal Buildings, Archway Road, Huyton, Knowsley, Merseyside, L36 9UX.
Merseyside PCC and Chief Constable of Merseyside Police

The Police Commissioner's preferred candidate to be the next Chief Constable of Merseyside Police, Rob Carden, will go before the Police and Crime Panel for a confirmation hearing.

Rob, who is currently Chief Constable of Cumbria Constabulary, was chosen by Emily Spurrell as her preferred choice to take over the top role at Merseyside Police following a rigorous assessment and interview process.

At the confirmation hearing, which will be live streamed to enable members of the public to observe, Chief Constable Carden will go before Panel members who will review the recruitment and selection process, assess the supporting documents and interview him before giving their view on his appointment.

The panel, which is made up of elected and independent members from across Merseyside, has the power to either ratify or veto the Police and Crime Commissioner’s decision.

Subject to approval by Merseyside’s Police and Crime Panel, he will replace Serena Kennedy KPM in September following her retirement.
